You are John Egbert, and you are waiting for the mail.
Nov, 19, 2011
It was a quiet Saturday in Maple Valley Washington, it was twelve in the afternoon and the air was chilled by Autumn. John had been anxious all day waiting for the mail to arrive, but that's nothing compared to waiting all month for something that would change your whole life when it came down to it.
John was a Piano Prodigy and his Father was a music professor at the near by college, the minute John could memorize things his Father sat him on the piano bench and taught him to play, and by the age of 10 he could out do any kid in the city that challenged him. Today was the day that John had been looking forward to since the end of last month, John's Father had gotten john to audition for a Nation wide Music competition called "You are the Star", and John being the go getting person he was Played the best piano piece had had and taped it and sent it off, they wouldn't get the results until the 19 of November, and that brings us back to the young bespeckled boy looking out his window anxiously waiting for the mail. Today was the day that the audition results would be in, if the Producers of the competition liked your act they would have you fly into new york for a Taping of the show which would take about the whole month of December. This was a very big thing for John, one was that he really wanted to make his dad proud and two he wanted all the years of being on that piano bench to finally pay off. John closed his eyes and thought of what it would be like to stand on that stage along with all the other contestants. . .and to beat all of them.
"John"! John's eyes snapped open to the sound of his Father calling up to him, he looked out the window just quickly enough to see the mail truck pulling away from his own mail box and move onto the next, John ran out of his room and down the stairs, "The mail's here". called his Father from where he sat on the couch reading the news paper and smoking his pipe. "I know". and with that last statement john was out the door running for the mail box once he reached it he grabbed hold of the handle and paused, everything paused his breath, his movement, he didn't even blink he just stood there holding on to the handle the opened the mail box. After what seemed like hours he took a deep breath and slowly opened it and looked inside, there were three letters in mailbox and to John that was three ways of being disappointed, he gathered them up carefully as if they would all turn to ash and blow away in the autumn breeze. He stacked them like playing cards and looked at all three of them, the first two were just bills addressed to his Father but the last one was addressed to him, the letter for the competition was there and john was staring at it as if it had grown eyes, he dropped the other letters on the floor and ripped it open (making sure not to damage the letter itself) once it was open he pulled out the letter and began to read it.

John gripped the letter in his hands, his whole body was shaking with excitement at the news he had just received, he looked up to find his Father standing at the door and once they made eye contact John ran for him and wrapped his Father in a back breaking hug. "I made it"!! John yelled out happily. "I get to be in the competition"! John couldn't control himself on how happy he was he felt like he was about to burst. His Father wrapped his arms around his son returning the hug, he then pulled away and knelt before him looking at him with the most loving stare he always gave his son. "You made it, I'm so proud of you". John beamed and his Father smiled back. "Dad, i can't believe i get to go and compete, I can't believe this is happening"! His Father chuckled softly at his son's excitement and placed his hand on John's shoulder. "It's happening, and I want you to know that. . .no matter what happens at this competition, I will always be proud of you". John felt all the excitement and happiness well up inside him, tears ran down his face as he hugged his Father wrapping his arms tightly around his neck. "I'm going to make you proud".

You are Dave strider and you are on your way to get the mail.
It was a busy Saturday in Houston Texas and the it was two in the afternoon and it was air was cool, walking down the street from his loft that he shared with his Bro was a red eyed young boy wearing a matching red hoodie with a record label companies logo, making his way down to the post office to get the today's mail.
Dave was young up and coming rap artist, taught by his older Brother who is a co-producer of the record label company "Sick Fires productions"who's logo and name was printed of the left shoulder of the hoodie Dave was wearing. Dave had become a young prodigy himself and at the worst of times could knock people on their butts with what he could dish out.
Since his Brother was 18 he had strive to give Dave a good life it wasn't until the day he and his friend and business partner Lil' cal a free style rapper decided to create a record label company of their own and once they got their first client it was all smooth sailing from there and Bro finally was able to give Dave a life that didn't involve living off of ramen and sleeping on a futon everyday and night. For as long as Dave could remember it has always been him and his Brother he had once asked his Brother and was never given an explanation and so from that day he never really asked.
Dave walked into the post office walking over to the wall of mailbox cubbies and found his own that he shared with his Brother, taking out the key to the box from his pocket he unlocked it and opened it without hesitation there were several letters along with a small package he gathered up the letters and grabbed the package examining it, it was addressed to him so he walked over to a bench taking a seat he set the letters down next to him and proceeded to open the package using the mailbox key to break the tape on the box, once the tape was broken he opened it to find it was the pair of Crimson red and gold headphones he had ordered a week ago. He smiled slightly and took them out discarding the box in a near by waste bin he hooked them around his neck and gathered up the rest of the mail examining each letter, most of them were for his Brother except for one that was Addressed to him form the Competition producers, he opened it, withdrew the letter and started to read it.

Dave could feel his eyes widen and was soon back to his usual poker face that he always wore. "Sweet". and with that he grabbed the rest of the mail (remembering to close and lock his mailbox) and walked out of the building on his way to his Brother's record company to give him the news
